Supervising Chaplain Jay McCarl

Chaplain Jay McCarl is the founding pastor of Calvary Chapel on the Georgetown Divide. Originally schooled and trained as an artist, God had a different road set out for Jay, and in 1973, while attending Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, he began serving in ministry. During the first fifteen years he served as Beach Area Director for Orange County Youth for Christ, a worship leader for various ministries at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, and an assistant pastor and worship leader for affiliates in Orange, Napa, and Auburn. In 1990, Pastor Greg Denham of Calvary Auburn sent Jay to begin a work that soon became Calvary Chapel Georgetown Divide.

Chaplain Jay is a graduate of Trinity Biblical University with a Bachelor of Ministry of Public Safety  in Chaplaincy and is currently enrolled in graduate studies for an MMPS in Law Enforcement Chaplaincy. Outside of regular church duties he frequently speaks to fellowships locally and internationally (often presenting Biblical Dinners), in addition to directing annual tours of Israel and serving as a volunteer Law Enforcement Chaplain with Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy. Jay has been married to his wife Kathee for 27 years and has three daughters and a son, Shana, Taryn, Jenna, and Zachary.
